2018 in Bollywood proved that the audience is getting smarter and is running towards the content and not stardom. Several movies with Big Stars but weak content flopped at the Box office. Movies with strong and different content proved to be a Box office Success Like Badhaai Ho, Raazi, Andhadhun, Tumbaad, etc.
The Three Khans
This year has not been Good for the Three Khans i.e Salman, Aamir and Shahrukh. We can even include Saif Ali Khan in this. Salman’s Race 3, Aamir’s Thugs of Hindostan and Shahrukh’s Zero failed to entertain the audience. Even Saif Ali Khan has two releases this year i.e. Kaalakaandi and Bazaar, both flopped at the Box office.
The last quarter of the year 2018 has started with a movement called Me Too, a movement against sexual harassment and sexual assault of women in their workplace. The rage was so high that many people from the Film Industry were affected by this.
This year has been full of online web series. May it be Sacred Games, Mirzapur, Breathe, etc, Web Series became quite famous in 2018. It proved that Movies are not restricted to Cinemas or movie theatres. In fact, 2018 has opened doors for upcoming years to produce more online content.
Songs Remakes in Movies
Movies in 2018 have been full of old Bollywood songs remix. Bom Diggy Diggy in Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Sanu Ek Pal Chain Na Aawe in Raid or the latest Aankh Maare in Simmba and many more. In fact, the audience has liked it a lot.
Movies showing women empowerment proved to be a huge success both from critics and box office. Raazi in the best example in this case. Patakha, Veere di Wedding, Stree are all the examples of the same. Not only this, even #metoo was a movement towards Women Empowerment.
Marriages in 2018
2018 have seen a lot of marriages of Celebrities. Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja, Neha Dhupiya and Angad Bedi and even Kapil Sharma and Ginni Chatrath.
The year 2018 has been full of Biopics and Movies based on true events. Padmaavat, Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran, Raazi, Sanju, Gold, Etc. These movies proved to be a hit both on the box office and by critics.
